University of Aberdeen Protects Student and Staff Information

The University of Aberdeen were looking at different methods of implementing secure mobile access to business systems so that staff could benefit from mobile working without the concern of information becoming compromised through loss or theft. Staff at the Uni carry commercially valuable research and students’ work on USB sticks which contain lots of sensitive personal information, which would not only be a headache in terms of lost time if misplaced, but also potentially exposing sensitive information.
 
Brian Henderson, Head of Service Delivery, says: “We had an existing relationship with OLC (The Education Sector Specialists at SBL). They provide us with our Microsoft Licenses. As specialists in Information Assurance solutions and their vendor independence we approached OLC to advise us on the most suitable solution for us.

PSA09 - The new Public Sector Agreement reducing costs for both existing and new Microsoft customers

The new Public Sector Agreement (PSA09) is a new software purchasing model for the UK public sector. It is the result of an in-depth collaborative procurement engagement between Microsoft and Buying Solutions on behalf of the public sector.

In PSA09, Microsoft is offering value for money, greater choice and licensing flexibility, unique in its public or private sector agreements.
